Random Tuesday Thoughts!

randomtuesday
I’m feeling random today and haven’t done a RTT post for quite a while, so bear with me!
As if I didn’t already want spring badly enough, we just had another huge blizzard here in MN, mother nature dumped another foot and a half of snow on us Sunday night and Monday. This came on the heels of an unseasonably warm week (upper 40’s, even a low 50), where we lost almost all of our snow cover. I guess winter was telling us she’s not through with us just yet! So, now the ‘flooding’ talk begins, which always cracks me up just a little bit. The question that we hear the (brilliant) news anchors ask is ‘I wonder what this will mean for flooding’? Now, I am no expert here so please don’t take this word as gospel, but I’m pretty sure it means that when the temperatures warm up again, the snow will turn to water and we will have a problem. Don’t hold me to that though, let’s just wait and see what happens.
My poor little guy had a bout with the stomach flu this past week and we actually had him into the e.r. to be treated for some mild dehydration. He did pretty well there but has been a bit cranky and extra snuggly since then…it sure takes their little bodies a while to catch up from an illness. Had him back into his regular doctor yesterday and all looked well. I will take him in for a weight check in a couple weeks though since he lost 6 oz, we just want to make sure it comes back when his appetite increases!
Speaking of weight loss and appetites, I hopped back onto the Weight Watchers bandwagon again last week and am feeling really good about things. Even though I blew almost all of my extra weekly points the very first day!!!! And to think that I did that in just one meal Benjamin and I met my brother for lunch on Saturday and I had already gone on-line to figure out what I was going to order and how many points it would be. My friend told me that very morning at the meeting to not even look at the menu, just order what I had decided to get. Sounds easy enough, right? Except I didn’t WANT a salad, so I ordered a sandwich instead…a sandwich with a ridiculous amount of points. And that was even with a side of steamed broccoli, in lieu of the pasta salad. Live and learn…hoping to rebound the rest of the week so that I have a good weigh-in on Saturday morning! Just for fun, here is a picture of Benjamin with his Uncle Dan.

I am looking forward to Hollywood Week on American Idol, finally! That’s when things start to get really good. I’m not too happy that they have changed the nights to Wednesday and Thursday, instead of Tuesday and Wednesday. I never minded missing the ‘results show’ because there was just a bunch of crap and lead up and I could always hop online to see who got the boot. However, now that the actual singing is on Wednesdays, I miss most of it because it is a church night for us. I suppose one of these days I might have to crack down and buy a TiVo or something…except I have no idea what to do with it, LOL!
And while we are on ‘reality TV’ since the only other show I indulge myself in is The Bachelor/Bachelorette, what is up with the choice being SO obvious this year. Will anyone else be surprised if the ol’ bachelor does NOT end up with Emily? DUH!!!! When did they decide to throw the intrigue and guess work out of the show?
I suppose that’s about it for this random Tuesday post…I’m a bit sleepy and break time is over so must get back to work.
I hope you all are doing well. God bless!

Simple Woman's Daybook

Today is... Wednesday, February 16

Outside my window...it is partly sunny and very springy!!!!
I am thinking...that I can't wait to get outside on my lunch break for some of this great fresh air...WITHOUT a jacket!!
I am thankful...that Benjamin is feeling better after a nasty, 3 1/2 day stomach flu bout.
I am wearing...a new $5 maroon and white-striped sweater with a long string of pearls, tan pants and my brown boots! Oh, and my pearl earrings too. I love how you can pull off a $5 clearance sweater by pairing it with some classy, timeless jewelry :-)
I am remembering...how difficult it is to catch up on work after missing 3 full days in the office!
I am creating...thank you notes! I have been so blessed to have friends and family helping out during this time of transition for us and have lots of thank you's to get out to them.
I am going...to church tonight and so happy since we missed Sunday morning with Benjamin being so sick.
I am reading...my one-year Bible and lots of devotions, but that's it.

I am hoping/praying...that God will continue to help me keep my focus on Him during this turbulent time!
I am hearing...Jack Johnson on the Muzac channel...love him!!

On my mind...wondering how long it will really take me to catch up on all of this work.

Pondering these words:
From the kitchen...I have had the ingredients to make a new stuffed chicken recipe for weeks now and just haven't done it, I think tomorrow will finally be the night. Perhaps I'll share pictures and the recipe, if it turns out and all.

Around the house...I was busy disinfecting, disinfecting, and then disinfecting last night after it seems this illness has finally left. I sure hope so, it was not a fun one at all!
One of my favorite things...Parenthood! I absolutely adore that show, best show to come to television in a long time, IMHO!
A few plans for the rest of the week...church tonight, not much tomorrow (except my new recipe), Women Who Move on Friday night at church and hopefully getting together with my brother on Saturday (Uncle Dan).

My Word Picture... future firefighter?

Guess Who's 9 Months Old Today?

That's right...this little 'standing up in his crib' man is 9 months old today. It truly boggles my mind how fast he is growing...I feel like I must have just slept through a few months or something? How do they grow so quickly, it's almost sad. Except that every day with him is an absolute blessing and joy.

You will have to forgive the horrible snot in this first picture...but with the exception of the snot it was far too cute not to share. I was in too much of a hurry to grab the camera and capture the fact that he was standing up in his crib!! He had THE BIGGEST grin on his face too, he was so proud!  Perhaps they need to add an edit feature to 'remove snot' like you can 'remove red eye'? Maybe I'll get on that.

He has his 9-month checkup on Thursday. I am looking forward to finding out just how much my little man has grown over the last three months. He is now almost standing on his own too...I know he will be an early walker, he definitely has the ambition and drive. God help me keep up with him!

God bless you all!
